The Arena
The Arena
The Arena is where your progress is performed back to you.
Every other part of the app is a tool. You use it, and it does its work, and then it is quiet. The Arena is different. It is the one place that gathers what you have done and shows it to you as a single shape โ a rank, a streak, a wall of achievements, a ledger of gold.
It is not a game. It is a mirror.
Three rooms
The Arena has three tabs, each answering a different question.
- Personal โ who are you becoming? Your rank, level, streak, achievements, S-Rank of the month, and the recent ledger of XP and gold.
- Leaderboard โ where do you stand? A quiet comparison against everyone else using the app.
- Shop โ what can you build? A catalog of capacity upgrades and conveniences, purchasable with gold.
Each is described below in more detail. But first, the reason any of it exists.
Why there is an Arena at all
Most productivity software is silent. You use it, it works, and nothing ever accumulates. After a year of daily use, there is nothing to look at โ no record, no weight, no sense that the time you spent actually went somewhere.
The Arena is the answer to that silence.
It is built on the belief that watching yourself accumulate is a form of motivation that does not require anyone else's approval. The rank moves when you do the work. The streak holds when you keep showing up. The achievements unlock when you cross thresholds you set for yourself. None of it is a competition. All of it is a record.
The Arena is deliberately quiet in its presentation. There are no confetti animations, no pop-up celebrations, no gamified sounds. The rank is a word. The XP bar is a bar. The streak is a number. What gives them weight is that they are true.
Personal โ the hall of records
This is the tab you will open most often.
The hero
At the top of the page sits a block of five numbers: your rank, your level, your XP total, your gold balance, and a horizontal bar showing how close you are to the next level.
The rank is a word โ E-Rank, D-Rank, C-Rank, B-Rank, A-Rank, or S-Rank. Each rank has its own colour. E-Rank is muted slate; S-Rank is gold. Your rank is not a title you chose. It is a level you reached.
The XP bar fills as you complete tasks. The gold balance is your spendable currency. Both are described in their own sections โ Progression for XP, The Economy for gold.
The streak panel
Below the hero sits a small panel with three numbers: your current streak, your longest streak, and when you last did anything.
A streak is a number of consecutive days on which you completed at least one task or wrote at least one reflection. The rule is generous โ either counts, and only one activity per day is needed. What it measures is showing up, not volume.
When your current streak equals your longest, a small "personal best" badge appears. It is quiet. It is the only badge in the app that is quiet by design.
Achievements
Twelve achievements are seeded into the app. Each one unlocks automatically when you cross its threshold. Unlocked achievements are bright, with their icon at full opacity. Locked ones are dimmed, with their description still visible so you know what to aim for.
The achievements are deliberately few. They are not a checklist to grind. They are landmarks โ things you pass on the way.
The month's S-Rank
Once a month, you can promote one session to S-Rank โ a single distinction marking the event that mattered most.
Promotion happens in the [Calendar] month view, by dragging a session onto the S-Rank panel. It is deliberate, not automatic. The app does not decide what mattered. You do.
If you have not yet promoted a session this month, the Arena shows a quiet prompt with a link back to the month view.
Recent activity
At the bottom of the Personal tab sit two small ledgers: recent XP grants and recent gold grants. Each row is one entry โ a task completed, an achievement unlocked, a daily claim, a streak milestone. They are the paper trail behind the numbers above.
Leaderboard โ where you stand
The Leaderboard is a comparative view, but a gentle one.
Two boards are available:
- This Month โ XP earned since the first of the month. Resets monthly. Rewards recent effort, not tenure.
- All Time โ cumulative XP across the life of your account. Rewards the long haul.
Your own row is always visible, even when you are outside the top twenty. If you want to opt out of being visible to others, you can โ a small link at the bottom of the board removes your row from everyone else's view, without removing it from your own.
The Leaderboard is described further in The Arena itself, but the philosophy is simple: comparison is available if you want it, and invisible if you do not.
Shop โ where gold becomes capacity
The Shop is the only place in the app where gold leaves your account.
Seven items are available, in two categories:
- Capacity โ permanent upgrades that raise the limits on subjects, rituals, goals, or goal nesting depth.
- Convenience โ one-shot items like a task pack or a streak shield.
Every purchase is recorded twice: once in your gold ledger as a debit, and once in the purchase ledger as a record of what you bought. Both are immutable. If a purchase ever needs to be undone, it is undone by adding another entry, not by erasing the original.
The capacity system is described in The Economy. The current limits, and what each item raises, are visible directly on the Shop tab.
Why it is all quiet
Look at the Arena carefully. There is not one flashing animation. There is not one celebratory pop-up. The most "exciting" moment in the entire app is the small toast that appears when you complete a purchase โ and even that is a single line of text at the bottom of the screen.
This is deliberate.
The app is designed for someone who is trying to build a life, not win a game. Celebration that fires on every small action turns meaning into noise. The Arena instead says: here is what you have done. Look at it or do not. But it is real, and it is yours.
> Nothing here shouts. Everything here remembers.
If that is what you want from a productivity tool, this is the part of the app that most clearly shows it.
