Customization
Customization
The app has one colour that is yours. Everything else is the app's, chosen for a reason and kept stable.
Customization is the place where you can shift that one colour, and see the app respond.
The accent colour
Every part of the app that is designed to draw your eye โ buttons, links, active states, focus rings, section headers, the arena hero โ uses a single colour called the accent. By default, it is teal. You can change it.
Open the Arena, navigate to the Personal tab, and scroll to the bottom. There is a row of eight circular swatches. Click any one, and the entire app repaints.
The eight options:
- Teal โ the default
- Cyan
- Violet
- Magenta
- Amber
- Emerald
- Crimson
- Silver
Your choice is stored on the server. It persists across sessions, across devices, and across browsers. If you log in on a new computer, the accent you chose is already there.
What changes
When you pick a new accent, the following change colour:
- The brand text in the header
- Every navigation link's hover and active state
- Every button โ primary, secondary, and danger
- Every card border and highlight
- Every modal's accent
- Every tab and sub-tab
- Every filter pill
- Every form field's focus ring
- Every progress bar
- Every section title and divider
- Every calendar view's accent โ week, day, month, hour, year
- Every task surface โ view, library, create, edit
- The dashboard widgets
- The signal chart โ line and dots
- The reflections page and the floating ๐ญ button
- The leaderboard table
- The shop catalog and purchase flow
- The Arena hero, tab bar, and streak panel
That is most of the app. The accent touches nearly every screen.
What does not change
Four things deliberately ignore the accent. Each is a decision, not an oversight.
The Rorschach overlay. The threshold ritual that plays on first authenticated load stays teal. It is the app's signature. It does not belong to any one user.
The word rotation. The rotating strip of multilingual words on the dashboard stays teal. Same reason.
S-Rank gold. The gold colour used for S-Rank events and for the Arena's gold balance is fixed. Gold means gold. It is not customizable.
Semantic colours. Error red, success green, warning amber, and the muted grey used for less-important text are fixed. They carry meaning, and their meaning must not shift with your preference.
Additionally, subject colours and ritual type colours are chosen by you, not by the theme. A subject that is coloured #00ffcc stays #00ffcc no matter what accent you have picked. They are your data, not the app's chrome.
Why customization is limited
The app could offer more โ a full theme editor, custom fonts, background colours, dark/light modes. It does not, and this is deliberate.
Three reasons:
First, the app is designed. Its visual language โ dark background, teal accent, rounded corners, muted text โ was chosen for a reason. Letting users change everything would let them break it. What the app offers instead is a single colour that changes how it feels without changing what it is.
Second, eight colours is enough. More options would make the choice harder without making it better. The eight offered are distinct and each feels complete. If more options are ever wanted, the palette can be extended with a small code change.
Third, some things must not move. The Rorschach ritual, the word rotation, and the semantic colours carry meaning that would be lost if they changed. They are anchored on purpose.
What might come later
Two things are candidates for future customization:
- Cosmetics โ subject colour packs, avatar frames on the leaderboard, and other purely visual upgrades that could be purchased with gold.
- Layout preferences โ options for how the calendar displays, which hour ranges are shown by default, and which tabs appear in the Arena.
Neither is in the current version. If they arrive, they will be additive โ the accent palette and the fixed elements will not change.
